South Coast Opening
We're officially open as of 7:15p tonight. The fireworks show was good. There were debris covering the entire front parking lot, as the fireworks were fired low and towards the front of the property.
The front doors opened at 7:16, and by 7:24 the fire alarms were going off due to a roof fire. The best part of that whole mess was watching the fire trucks with ladders pull into Valet, firemen unloading in full gear (air tanks, full suits, and axes) while security was still allowing the general public through the doors. "Welcome to the South Coast... We're currently on fire, but come on in!"
I got a few pics of the fire trucks with my camera phone, as digi was up in the hotel. I'll try to get those posted.
From an MIS/IT standpoint, the opening went very smoothly. We'll find out the rest this weekend.robbieboi

Question about an old one...
I know this is a little off subject, but I was just curious... The old Moulin Rouge on Bonanza... I've studied the history (first integrated casino in Vegas, opened in 55, closed shortly after, reopened in I think 93, closed around 96 if memory serves...) My question is this... I've found conflicting reports... some say that they were working on rebuilding the Moulin Rouge into a very nice resort, I've also heard that it's closed and unused, closed but used for apartments, and also heard (from the Las Vegas Visitor's Bureau website) that it's open and operational... My question... is it open?

one more week....
one more week until the South Coast is slated to open. Things have really come together in the last few weeks.
I'm stuck here while a vendor is calibrating the outside signs tonight. I'll be walking the property shortly to take a few last pictures before we open and are never empty again. For anyone who's never opened a casino before, this has been a pretty amazing experience.( just a few that I took in passingCollapse ) Current Mood: bored

Top Ten List (for all you casino people)
Hey guys! We were bored last night at work and came up with a Top Ten list. ENJOY!Top 10 Things You Want to Say to a Guest But Can't:
10. Wipe the drool from your face! We know you are a slot zombie, but you don't have to prove it!
9. What part of $10 minimum
do you NOT understand?
8. I don't suppose there is a cordial personality in there I could talk to.
7. Oh, I'm so sorry
let me just put that $5 loss back on your card!
6. With that charming demeanor, I can't imagine WHY you are such a LOSER.
5. Get your "high-roller-$3-comp-ass" outta my face. NEXT!
4. Have another beer and maybe it won't matter anymore.
3. Look at my face- Now, do you think that I care?
2. I think that's WHY they call it GAMBLING!
1. Well, not all losers are just forgotten... Custer for example!

Hullo all :)
Just moved here to Vegas from South Florida about a month ago. I'm currently working at Chili's in Summerlin but am applying for casino's also. I wanted to get to work right away so Chili's was the best route to go. Hopefully within the next year or so I can land myself a j.o.b down on the strip. Ultimately I'd like to dance either at the Rio or become one of the TI girls. I was a dancer for 14yrs (stopped in 2001 to futher college) and am looking to get back into taking classes. I'm not sure how to go about auditioning for these shows, or even how to hear about them.
Any suggestions are welcome!!

Good community, need more PEOPLE.
HOW are we going to get more people in here when the las vegas moderator won't let us advertise our community there??
I got the three of you within 20 minutes of posting about this community and they deleted my entry.
We gotta get more peeps! Current Mood: complacent

Alrighty y'all. I just wanted to babble for a minute to see if anyone was out there. I FINALLY got a job! I am at Flamingo in the "Connection Center", which will soon be the "Total Rewards" Center. I've been there a few weeks now & have learned a few things:
I have a true advantage with my southern drawl. People rarely get mean with me. I guess they think I just got here too & am just as confused as they are(lol... great trick).
Visitors are generally nice, but boy when they are mean... they take the cake.
I love working on the strip, I love getting off work in the wee hours of the morning & everything is quiet for the night & simply beautiful.
I found a tshirt that I think should be mandatory for all employees: "I'll be nicer, when you try to be smarter".

Las Vegas Casino Employees
Just wanted to create a place where the tens of thousands of us could vent whenever we feel the need to vent, make some contacts and/or blow off some steam here in livejournal.
I moved to Vegas a little more than 3 months ago,(from Boston) specifically to work in the casino industry after 15 years in the restaurant business.
I work at the (soon to be imploded) Imperial Palace, in the poker room.
As the lone moderator, all I ask is post whatever is on your mind, have a good time, no soliciting of any gambling sites (it's pointless anyway, chances are we all know where to gamble at this point), and debate in a spirited (but polite) manner.
Thanks for taking an interest, hope to hear from you soon.
